William Wells and the Old Northwest, 1770-1812

Shriver, Cameron Michael
Abstract
William Wells (1770-1812) represents the misunderstood filter between United States Indian policy and the peoples it was meant to affect. Adopted by Miami Indians and working for the American government, Wells played a vital role in the transformation of the Indiana Territory and its inhabitants.
