Magnetic Anomalies in the eastern Blue Ridge, central Virginia: a Magnetic Interpretation of Subsurface Structure

Huff, Benjamin
Abstract
The eastern Blue Ridge of central Virginia contains magnetically susceptible lithologic units including the Catoctin formation and mafic plutons in the western Peidmont. These metavolcanic and metabasaltic units project anomalies in the magnetic profiles across the region. Along five traverses across the eastern Blue Ridge, the magnetic anomalies and structural geometry of these units is analyzed in order to create non-unique subsurface interpretations.
