Abstract
Alkynes are valuable synthetic building blocks in organic chemistry and offer crucial reactivity for bioorthogonal chemistry. Herein, this moiety is explored in the context of developing classic small molecule therapeutics, and as a non-canonical amino acid (ncAA) orthogonal handle in bioconjugations. Namely, this functionality was utilized for the production of potent antibiotics, as well as potential biological tools for the diagnosis and treatment of prostate and breast cancer, respectively.
