Divine on Display: The Śiva Nataraja Bronze in an American Museum

Cavazos, Nina
Abstract
By exploring the ontological and historical facets and ethical implications of the ?iva Nataraja's presence in the museum, it is possible for the American museum to recognize the various and ever-changing significances of this Indian devotional bronze. By acknowledging the separate worlds in which this bronze has participated, the museum can expect to create an atmosphere conducive to learning, and ultimately shape more informed opinions and understanding among museum guests.
