Abstract
The Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) was contracted by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to participate in the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) National Coastal Assessment (NCA) by collecting fish at pre-determined stations and obtaining information on community structure of fish and invertebrates and bottom habitat. Over each of the first five years of NCA, samples of fish (five chosen target species) have been collected for delivery to DEQ for subsequent tissue analysis. A five-year SAS dataset containing all pertinent information has been produced. This report summarizes Virginia NCA field studies from 2000 through 2004.
