The Virginia Institute of Marine Science, located at William & Mary’s Gloucester Point campus, is recognized worldwide for its expertise in coastal marine science.

The faculty and staff of the Institute conduct interdisciplinary research in coastal ocean and estuarine science, educate students and citizens, and provide advisory service to policy makers, industry, and the public. William & Mary's graduate School of Marine Science is located at the Institute.
