Abstract
Lead (Pb), a toxic heavy metal dispersed as a result of both natural and anthropogenic sources, has been a significant pollutant for thousands of years (Hong 2006). Pb occurs at natural levels in the environment and only becomes dangerous at a toxic threshold, often when anthropogenic inputs have caused Pb concentrations to build up (Johnson et al. 2010). Some common anthropogenic sources of lead have historically included paint, petrol, and industrial practices, all of which have caused some degree of contamination in dust, soil, and drinking water (EPA).
