Abstract
This thesis explores the creation of the Thomas Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C. and investigates the historical memory of Thomas Jefferson that was incorporated into the memorial. The memorialization of Jefferson was influenced by The Thomas Jefferson Memorial Commission, Washingtonians, the New Deal and Second World War.
