Abstract
This thesis details a novel method for the construction of substituted pyridines using oxazinones in a cycloaddition/cycloreversion tandem sequence. A novel route to the oxazinone precursor is reported, and the reaction scope is explored through reactions with various alkynes. An application of the chemistry to the synthesis of a selective ErbB4 receptor inhibitor is described.
