Abstract
This paper examines the role of music in American campaigns over the years, highlighting Barack Obama's 2008 run for the Presidency. Obama's campaign revitalized the role of music in American politics through the release of a campaign compilation album, an open dialogue with the music community, and by using the internet as a forum for performance related to the campaign.
