Abstract
The goal of study was to explore the synthesis of 1-(5-methylhexyl)-2,3,8,9-tetrahydro-1H-naphtho[2,1-e]indol-6(7H)-one. This molecule is designed to act as a fluorescent model for cholesterol. It mimics cholesterol in terms of size, shape, and hydrophobic nature. . A nine-step synthesis was explored in order to develop this model. 1-(5-methylhexyl)-2,3,8,9-tetrahydro-1H-naphtho[2,1-e]indol-6(7H)-one was designed to be used as a cholesterol model in order to explore the cholesterol binding sites of the protein human serum albumin.
