Abstract
J.C. Leyendecker was one of the top cover artists for The Saturday Evening Post for almost 40 years. Trained at the Academie Julian in Paris and an inspiration to artists like Norman Rockwell, the art of this talented man long ago earned a place in art historical study but is just now being given the recognition it deserves. Each cover is a mini-image of the American way of life and shows us today how the America of our past wanted to see itself.
